About Black Manjushri

Black Manjushri is the wrathful healing form of Manjushri who is particularly helpful for patients suffering from chronic or incurable diseases such as AIDS, cancer and arthritis. He helps us confront and deal with negative emotions such as anger, depression, fear and denial which arise when we are challenged by such diseases, or when we are faced with problems in our daily life.

He provides powerful protection against harm and disturbances caused by negative astrological influences such as conjunctions, transits and eclipses that could result in sicknesses, accidents, loss of property, social problems and discouraging life experiences.

He also prevents harm caused by black magic, halts negative entities which seek to hinder spiritual practice, success and longevity, and protects from unseen interferences such as nagas who cause plagues, leprosy, possessions and contagious viral epidemics.

He holds a flaming wisdom sword in his right hand, showing he can remove the causes of our pain. In his left hand, at his heart, he holds a Dharma text. He leans to the right in warrior pose and is black in colour. He is short, stocky and large size. His practice is very popular and arrived in Tibet from India through the efforts of the translator Bari Lotsawa Rinchen Drag (1040-1112).
