A traditional wooden mask of Kache Marpo, the Dharma Protector who brings swift assistance, powerful protection and clears obstacles. Hand-carved from camphor wood, it is inspired by an antique cham dance mask from H.E. Tsem Rinpoche's personal collection.

Protector masks are traditionally hung in protector chapels to signify the presence of the Protectors. However, in modern times, these masks can be hung on the wall or mounted on a stand near one's personal protector altar as an object of reverence and worship. It can also be hung over the entrances of homes or businesses for protection and blessings, or displayed as part of a Himalayan art collection.

  • Inspired by H.E. Tsem Rinpoche's antique cham dance mask.
  • Handcarved from camphor wood.
  • Deity iconography according to Buddhist scriptural sources.
  • Hand-painted in traditional colours.

About Kache Marpo

Known as the main "minister" of Dorje Shugden, Kache Marpo is an emanation of Hayagriva, the wrathful form of Chenrezig. Like all Dharma Protectors, he assists sincere practitioners along the spiritual path by subduing inner and outer obstacles and granting protection from negative energies.

Dressed in armour, he sits astride a horse and wears headgear adorned with five flags. In his right hand, he brandishes a lance that stabs the heart of the 'enemy' who is simultaneously bound by a noose held in Kache Marpo's left hand. This wrathful imagery is symbolic of his swift ability to protect and assist Dharma practitioners.
