A small damaru (double-sided hand-held drum) handcrafted from precious Santang wood, also known as Himalayan acacia wood, and accented with silken brocade girdle, carved silver girdle or carved golden girdle. Both silver and golden girdle are also decorated with red coral and turquoise.

The damaru tail (chopen) is made from five-coloured silks, representing the five Buddha families — Vairochana (white), Amoghasiddhi (green), Amitabha (red), Ratnasambhava (yellow) and Akshobhya (blue).

Store respectfully in a clean and nice place when not in use. Includes a traditional brocade protective case.

* As each item is handcrafted, variations in shape, colour and finishing may occur from piece to piece. These do not impact its spiritual function and benefits.

About Damarus

The damaru is one of the key ritual implements within the tantric practices of Tibetan Buddhism. Representing the accomplishment of great bliss, it is played with the right hand, proclaiming the sound of emptiness.

The two sides of the damaru represent method and wisdom; the combination of both is the key to our enlightenment. The long tail-like ornament is the pendant (chopen) which represents the victory banner symbolic of proclaiming triumph in vanquishing our inner maras.
