A handcrafted gold and silver plated kapala (skull cup) with a double vajra engraved on the lid. The body of the skull cup rests on three legs representing a trio of human heads. It is most commonly used as a vessel for the practitioner's 'inner offering', made from either alcohol or black tea mixed with nectar pills. It can also be used to hold ritual cakes and other tantric offerings.
The kapala is an essential ritual object for anyone engaging in higher tantric practices such as Yamantaka, Kalachakra, Chakrasamvara or Vajrayogini. Practitioners who aspire to advance to practices such as these should also keep a kapala as part of their ritual set for auspicious reasons.
