A finely crafted sterling silver pendant of Akashagarbha, who is the Buddhist protector of the Ox zodiac sign. The back is engraved with the Chinese character ‘丑‘ (representing the Ox), encircled by the compassion mantra ‘OM MANI PEME HUNG’. Recommended for Oxen who wish to receive the blessings of their associated zodiac protector.

  • Crafted from sterling silver.
  • Deity iconography according to Buddhist scriptural sources.
  • Oriental-inspired design.
  • Ideal for casual everyday wear.

About the Ox:

The Ox is a completely transparent creature — what you see is what you get. He is patient, hardworking and has a great heart. However, that cool and calm exterior belies a hot temper so people should be wary not to provoke the Ox.

Devoted to his job and his family, the Ox has a fierce loyalty that will never be broken. His resilience and determination makes him a fantastic partner in work or on a personal level. Just bear with the rough edges and you will have a diamond in the rough.

About Akashagarbha

One of the eight great Bodhisattvas, Akashagarbha represents the immense vastness of Buddha’s wisdom. Both Japanese and Chinese Buddhists believe that his blessings are so powerful that merely reciting his name and mantra bestows great wisdom, intelligence and creativity. Because of this, he is sometimes regarded as the patron deity of art.

In modern times, Akashagarbha‘s practice is less common and is mainly prevalent in the Japanese Shingon lineage. Historically however, he was widely revered for his ability to remove obstacles, help practitioners overcome their weaknesses, and support the practice of the Six Paramitas.
