Supporting those who spend their lives benefiting others is a worthwhile action. Working on a 24/7 basis throughout the year, Kechara's Buddhist Pastors play an important role in the lives they touch through their generous service.

"The greatest achievement is selflessness. The greatest quality is seeking to serve others." – Atisha

The Buddhist Pastorship Fund seeks to support the Pastors' daily expenses so that they may continue to carry out their sacred duties of giving care and spiritual support, serving the community and ensuring the continuity of Buddha’s holy teachings. By supporting the Pastors:

  • You allow the Pastors to bring spiritual solace and guidance to those who are in pain
  • You allow the Pastors to guide others along their spiritual journeys
  • You give Pastors the means to spend even more of their time and effort to serve others
  • You provide the Pastors the means to make a real difference in people’s lives.
  • You ensure that the Buddhist teachings can be shared with others.

Your contributions will go a long way towards providing necessities such as food, lodging, transportation, ritual items, spiritual gifts for those in need, and other items necessary for pastoral work.

Please help our Pastors help others. Your generous support can make a difference.

Sponsoring the Sangha

Sangha are the community of ordained monks, nuns and lay practitioners who have devoted their lives to sharing the Buddhist tradition and serving the Buddhist community. Putting the needs of others above their own, the Sangha have kept Buddha’s teachings alive for over 2,500 years in an unbroken lineage that is moist with his blessings. It is due to their kindness that we are able to receive the pure Dharma today.

Making offerings to the Sangha — such as dana, food, robes, basic necessities or supporting their sacred duties is a mainstay of Buddhist practice. The tradition of sponsoring the Sangha was started by the Buddha himself, and is a way for us to express our appreciation for their compassionate activities.

“The act of making offerings to the Sangha is a fantastic way for us to collect merits and a great way to practice generosity, as taught by the Lord Buddha himself.” – Tsem Rinpoche

Sponsoring the Sangha creates the causes for the Dharma to remain. In making sincere offerings, we create immeasurable positive results for both our secular and spiritual life. This practice of generosity also helps us develop an altruistic mind and overcome greed and attachment. Even more, due to the higher nature of the object of offering, the happiness and sense of fulfilment we gain is unmatched by the results of other forms of altruistic giving.

Please join us in creating the causes for the growth of Dharma, and for the inspiration, happiness and peace that you will gain in your life.

About Kechara’s Pastors

Kechara' Buddhist Pastors are selfless and committed individuals who have taken an extraordinary step in dedicating their lives towards sharing the Buddhist tradition and serving the Buddhist community.

Combining the responsibilities of the ordained and the appearance of a layperson, pastors are the connection between the sangha and the everyday practitioner. In effect, pastors are ordinary people who have made a commitment towards their spirituality, and the spirituality of others. Their duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing Buddhist prayers and rituals.
  • Performing last rites and bereavement services.
  • Performing blessing ceremonies.
  • Performing marriage registrations.
  • Conducting Buddhist educational programmes.
  • Conducting public talks and other outreach programmes.
  • Providing counselling in person and online.
  • Providing Dharma support and guidance to Buddhist study groups in Malaysia and Singapore.
