He has ascended beyond wealth, fame, power, beauty, materialism and the other trappings of Samsara. Having achieved mystical union with an awakened being, Dorje Shugden, the hermit is able to see the true nature of his own mind and that of Samsara. With this clarity, he gains direct visions of this powerful protector.

The hermit’s secret Yidam is Lama Tsongkhapa, an emanation of Chenrezig, Manjushri and Vajrapani, whose image can be seen imprinted on the wall at the entrance of the cave. Subtly painted into the natural environment, unseen beings congregate around these two enlightened beings to witness this auspicious moment of mystic union. It is a reproduction of a painting commissioned by our founder, His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche to represent communion beyond anger, ego, materialism and the "I", that brings so much pain and suffering.
