There’s No Way But Up is David Lai’s first book. This autobiography is a sincere, no-holds barred and very personal portrait of how a spoilt young man makes his own spiritual journey and finds life-changing results from the Dharma. The book is enhanced with many memorable coloured photographs endearing David’s journey.

This book is the first in Kechara Media & Publications biography series, which captures each young writer’s own experiences as they encounter the teachings of H.E. Tsem Rinpoche and describes how they try to realise their full potential as compassionate and caring human beings.

In sharing David’s spirit and passion with all readers, the Publisher has maintained his unique voice, choosing not to edit his writing as extensively as with works in its other series.

We hope that David’s writing and experiences will inspire you to start on your own spiritual journey.

About Pastor David Lai

A student of H.E. Tsem Rinpoche since the early 00s, Pastor David Lai began his spiritual career in our Dharma stores before transitioning to a writing role in our publishing house. Heeding Rinpoche's advice, he began his literary career with the publication of his first book and autobiography, There’s No Way But Up in 2009. His other books include Vajrayogini and Other Sacred Power Places in Nepal, Tales My Lama Told Me, and Conversations in Love. His latest book is Insightful Meditation.

Having received innumerable teachings and practices from Rinpoche over the years, Pastor David passionately shares his knowledge and experience in Dharma classes and talks, and is often sought out by newer students for guidance and clarification whenever a question arises. In 2014, he was ordained as a pastor to realise his wish to continue serving the spiritual needs of the community.
